Nearly everyone is annoyed in some way by stinging insects. You might be at a picnic or tending the garden, maybe just out for a smoke, and the next thing you know there is a large humming dot flying straight for your head. Usually it’s just that the wasp or bee is just flying by, but it still startles most people. Some even duck or run when insects fly by their head. It’s caused by the fear of pain of a sting.
Other times it makes people afraid to walk around barefooted. Anywhere hidden in a patch of grass could be a stinging worm, ant pile, or underground nest of hornets. A lot of people don’t really give it much consideration until they set foot on one of these, then it’s too late.
